James White. Origin: Loyalist.
James received 100 acres in the Mortimers area of Long Island. He was a Private in Captain Joseph Smith's Company, Kings Rangers, Augusta, Georgia. He served with Private James Lane who also received land on Long Island. Also serving in the Kings Rangers was Captain Alexander Campbell Wylly, Private George Outlaw, Sergeant George Calveras, Sergeant James Clements. These men also received land grants on Long Island.
James White signed a memorial for himself and his family to President John Brown on 21 July 1786 entitled “The Memorial of many Loyalists lately settled in the said Islands.” The memorialists requested twelve months provisions for themselves and their families.
