JJohn Dowland. Origin: Loyalist.

John Dowland was a Private in the King’s Rangers out of Augusta, Georgia in 1781, and was subsequently promoted to Sergeant. He received 200 acres in the Hamilton’s area of Long Island on 2 Sept 1790; this parcel was bounded by the land of Alexander Todd, James Clement, William Symmery, and the sea. His land was later commuted to Arthur Newman.
