D-111 (40 acres, 14 Dec 1789)

John Hogan. Origin: Loyalist.

John Hogan (also listed on Tatnall map as John Hagan) was granted 40 acres in the Roses area of Long Island on 14 December 1789. This parcel was adjacent to land of Edward Lane and Hugh Dean, as well as a salina and vacant land. Because this deed indicates that he was exempt from paying quit rent on the land for ten years, we assume he was a Loyalist, though we were unsuccessful in locating any records of John Hogan in the Bahamas prior to 1810 (our cutoff date).

Reference: Grant.
