Samuel Roworth. Origin: Loyalist.
Samuel Roworth was a Captain in the Georgia King’s Rangers (Savannah), as well as serving in South Carolina, where he fought alongside William and Alexander C. Wylly, John Anderson, and others. Roworth was granted 750 acres of land in the Mortimers area of Long Island on 23 December 1788. His name is written “Rowarth” on both the Tatnall and Lands & Surveys maps, but nothing else is known about him at this time.
