Jeremiah Stewart received a land grant of 93.7 acres in the Burnt Ground area of Long Island.
A John Stewart was born on New Providence 6 October 1774. The surname Stewart is listed in the 1740 Census; however, on the 1792 Tatnall land grant map of the island, his surname is spelled “Stuart.” These are two versions of the same Scottish name.
