Sophia Darville. Origin: Old Family Name.

Sophia received 140 acres of land in the Deadmans Cay area of Long Island. She only appears on an early deed, but not on either the Lands & Surveys map, nor the Tatnall Map (1792), which suggests the land may have been taken back by the crown and sold or re-granted to Anthony McKinney. The Darville family has a long and illustrious history in the Bahamas.

Note: this last name is also spelled “Darvil” and “Darvill” in older Bahamian records.
