William Gilchrist. Origin: Old Family Name
William was granted 100 acres in the Berrys area of Long Island on 26 October 1789. Records in the vast document collection maintained by the Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS or “Mormons”) state that a Dugato Gilchrist seized a ship, American Schooner Hazard, near Nassau on 6 November 1779.
