Land Grants

D-88 (260 acres, 6 Dec 1788)

James Gray. Origin: Old Inhabitant.

James Gray’s son was born in New Providence on 8 October 1765, so we know that he is an old inhabitant. He was later granted 260 acres in the Old Grays area of Long Island on 6 December 1788. Sixty acres of this land was later commuted to Charles Carroll -- though confusingly, the same land grant (# D-88), was also given to Joel Grey (for 40 acres) on 28 February 1789.
