John Newman. Origin: Old Inhabitant
A John Newman was married on New Providence 27 April 1765. The surname “Neuman” is listed in the Book “C” Census (about 1740), Nassau, New Providence. John was granted 160 acres in the Lower Deadmans Cay area of Long Island on 31 October 1789. The land was later commuted to George R. Knowles.
