Robert Pritchard. Origin: Old Inhabitant

A Robert Pritchard was a private in the Colonel James Cary’s Regiment in the Camden Militia, formed in Charlestown, South Carolina. However, Pritchards were in the Bahamas prior to the American Revolution. The surname spelled “Prichard” is listed in the Woodes Rogers 1731 Census on Nassau, New Providence. Joseph Pitchard was born on New Providence 17 May 1760. We believe this Robert Pritchard was an Old Inhabitant.

Robert Prichard received 100 acres of land on Long Island. This land grant is not on the Lands and Survey map, so Pritchard’s name only appears on the Tatnall map.
