William Burrows. Origin: Old Inhabitant.

William Burrows married Hannah Young 1 July 1774 on New Providence. He was then granted 240 acres of land in the Lower Deadmans Cay area of Long Island on 24 December 1789. The land was bounded by that of John Morley, John Newman, vacant land, and the sea. Additionally, a “W. Burrows” also received land of unknown acreage on 3 June 1788.

The surname was variously spelled “Burroughs” and “Burrows” throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
