William Williams. Origin: Old Inhabitant

A William Williams and his wife, Meriam Meredith (Old Family Name), were the parents of Francis Williams, born in 1762 in New Providence. Williams was granted 28 acres in Pinders on Long Island.

A William Williams signed a memorial to Bahamas President John Brown entitled “The Memorial of Many Loyalists Lately Settled in the Said Islands.” The memorialists requested from the Crown
twelve months’ worth of provisions for themselves and their families. William signed only for himself. Two other men with Long Island grantees’ names who signed this memorial are James White and Daniel McKenzie, both of whom we believe were also Old Inhabitants.
