Peter Wemyss. Origin: Other

Peter Wemyss moved from Scotland to Nova Scotia around 1785, after the American Revolution, and subsequently moved to the Bahamas around 1790. He married Margaret Jones on New Providence on 1 March 1790. He was granted two large land grants on Long Island in the area of Wemyss on 13 June 1789: a grant of 320 acres, and a grant of 750 acres which was bounded by the land of William Charleton and Nathaniel Hall, Helen McKennon and John Duncan, his other parcel, and the sea.
